The Green Belt Movement (GBM) is an environmental organization that empowers communities, particularly women, to conserve the environment and improve livelihoods.
We encourage women to work together to grow seedlings and plant trees to bind the soil, store rainwater, provide food and firewood, and receive a small monetary token for their work.
Our vision is to create values-driven society of people who consciously work for continued improvement of their livelihoods and a greener, cleaner world.
In 2015, we provided training to over 200 rural women and community-based organizations who have in turn trained over 20,000 members of their communities in natural resource management and impacted thousands of others.
